Module 1: SMART Board Fundamentals - SMART Notebook Beginner

The module will provide you with an opportunity to develop your ability to use the SMART Notebook software to create engaging learning experiences.

1.   Getting started: Learn about hardware components, how the SMART Board interactive whiteboard works and the basic principles of touch, write and save.
2.  Basic design in SMART Notebook software: Add images and interactivity to your SMART Notebook lesson activities. Learn how to navigate the software using tabs, toolbars and menus, and discover how to change properties and manipulate objects.
3.  Additional resources:  Find out how SMART supports you with a number of resources, including free training materials and an online community.

Module 2: SMART Interactive Lessons - SMART Notebook Intermediate + LCD Projectors, Document Cameras, Clickers

The module will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your competency in using the SMART Notebook software to create engaging learning experiences.

1. Intermediate design in SMART Notebook software: Improve the structure and organization of your SMART Notebook lessons so they can be used more effectively on the SMART Board interactive whiteboard. Add style to your lessons, enhancing their appearance and clarity.

2.   Delivering lessons and leveraging interactive tools: Build interactive lesson activities more effectively and efficiently. Integrate rich media such as sound, animation and the Internet.

3.  Lesson Development and Delivery: Complete an organized, professional-looking interactive lesson in SMART Notebook. Learn to present lessons effectively on an interactive whiteboard.

4.  Additional resources: Find out how SMART supports you with a number of resources, including free training materials and an online community.

5. LCD Projectors: Learn how to connect a laptop to a portable or mounted LCD projector.

6. Documents Cameras: Learn how to connect a laptop to a document camera and portable or mounted LCD projector

7. Classroom clickers:  Learn how to use the Turning Technologies Software & SMART Interactive Response system to create interactive learning experiences.

Module 3: Classroom Technology -Creating Instructional Videos

The module will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your competency in using an EdTech resource and support the technology integration skills of other educators.

Educational Leadership - Jan. 8, 15, 16

   Module 1: 21st Century Teaching & Learning


This module is designed to enhance your understanding of what is required to be a 21st century teacher.
Students do not become 21st century learners on their own. They need learning opportunities that challenge them to utilize 21st century fluencies and integrate the six dimensions of 21st century learning. These dimensions include:
  • Collaboration 
  • Knowledge-construction
  • The use of ICT for learning
  • Self-regulation 
  • Real-world problem-solving and innovation
  • Skilled communication
Create a blog post that details what you consider to be the essential elements of the 21st century classroom.

              Module 2: Becoming an EdTech Leader

            This module will provide you with an introduction to the characteristics of  EdTech teacher leaders, educational leadership theory, and the impact of school leadership. 

            After reading the Characteristics of teacher leaders for information and communication technology article submit your answers to the following questions:

            • Describe three ways that teacher leaders different from traditional teachers.
            • What can do to demonstrate that you are a teacher leader?


            Module 3: EdTech Challenges

            This module will enhance your understanding of the challenges that confront EdTech leaders as they make EdTech decisions and look for ways to ensure technology is being used in ways that support student learning.
            1. Little to Gain from Technology in Schools.
            2. In Classroom of Future, Stagnant Score 
            3. Bridging the Gap: Technology Trends and Use of Technology in Schools
            4. No Child Left Untableted

            Create a blog post that details what you consider to be the benefits and challenges of using technology to support teaching and learning.
